Who the annual accounts workflow serves

The Title 9 route is intended directly for a BV, NV, cooperative and mutual insurance association. An association or foundation uses it only where article 2:360(3) DCC puts that entity within scope. A sole trader (eenmanszaak), general partnership (vof), limited partnership (cv) or professional partnership (maatschap) ordinarily uses bookkeeping and tax features rather than this statutory annual accounts route. Exceptional filing duties for partnerships with foreign corporate general partners need separate legal review.

The application derives a reporting class from assets, turnover and employee information over two financial years. It then helps structure the balance sheet, profit and loss account, notes and, where relevant, the management report. The management board remains responsible for recognition, measurement and completeness; AI text suggestions are editable drafts and amounts come from calculation rules. An independent auditor must perform any statutory audit. The size-class guide describes the legal thresholds.

Input, output and filing boundaries

Users can import an XAF audit file or a trial balance (saldibalans) in Excel or CSV. They may also use the application's bookkeeping and carry those balances into the reporting workflow. Direct integrations with individual accounting packages have not been released. This is relevant for a foreign parent with its own ledger: a suitable export and Dutch mapping review are still needed. The software selection guide gives a checklist.

The application can produce a full report, a size-specific publication version and document exports. The PDF and Word export of the financial statements has an English option for headings and column headers only; line-item labels and the notes stay in Dutch, and the Dutch version remains the authoritative one. Excel and XML exports are in Dutch. For a micro entity with a financial year starting from 2023 through 2025, it can generate an XBRL validation candidate; external SBR or adviser validation is required before use. It does not currently generate XBRL for small, medium-sized or large entities.

Jaarrekening.io sends nothing directly to KVK or the Netherlands Tax Administration. A user or adviser must check the official route, transmit the right file and retain proof that it was processed. VAT returns, EC sales lists (opgaaf ICP) and supplementary VAT returns (suppletie) are prepared as downloadable SBR messages; corporate and personal income tax are worked out in worksheets. The submission itself remains outside the application. Read how KVK filing works for the legal process.

What is available in English

This guide and its header and footer are in English. The application is in Dutch. An NL/EN switch appears only on the sign-in and forgotten-password screens; the choice is remembered in the browser and also applies to the password-reset screen and a few system notices. Every screen after sign-in, including the whole annual accounts workflow, is in Dutch, as are the homepage, the waitlist form, the pricing page and the legal notice. The export dialog for the financial statements offers an English option for PDF and Word: it translates the document title, section headings, column headers and table of contents, while line-item labels and the text of the notes stay in Dutch. Excel, XML and XBRL output is Dutch only.

When an English-speaking team works with a Dutch accountant, it can use the Dutch-English glossary to align names of documents and stages. A screenshot labelled 'deponeren' concerns filing, whereas 'opmaken' concerns preparation. Ask the accountant which Dutch version is intended for adoption and which limited copy is intended for publication; a convenience translation should not silently become the approved source document.

Operator and source of truth

MLR Ventures GmbH in Berlin, Germany, operates Jaarrekening.io. Contact the operator at info@jaarrekening.io or through the contact form (in Dutch). The legal notice (in Dutch) carries the formal registration particulars. This is a software service, not a Dutch government portal or an accounting practice.
