Key ratios calculator

Balance sheet items
Result (optional)

Enter the balance sheet items.

Key ratios have no statutory definition. State in the management report which formula you use, and keep that definition the same year after year.

Explanation

Key ratios summarise the financial position in a few ratios. They are not in the law as such, but they return in the management report (the 'position at the balance sheet date', art. 2:391(1) DCC), in bank covenants and in credit assessments. It is important that you state the definition you use: in practice the same name covers different formulas.

How to use the tool

  1. Enter the main items of your balance sheet: equity, balance sheet total, current assets, inventories and current liabilities.
  2. Add the result if you wish, for the profitability ratios.
  3. The calculator shows each ratio with its formula and a short interpretation.
Legal notice: this information is general in nature and does not replace tax or legal advice or an accountant's review. The accuracy and completeness of the annual accounts remain the responsibility of the board (art. 2:362(1) DCC).
