Digipoort
Digipoort is a government facility for the digital exchange of messages, including certain SBR reports.
What is Digipoort?
Digipoort is a government facility for the digital exchange of messages, including certain SBR reports.
Not every legal entity uses Digipoort directly itself. The applicable route may run via software or an intermediary. Sending and acceptance must be distinguished.
How does it work?
Digipoort is the government's ICT hub for message traffic with businesses, managed by Logius. It works like an electronic post office: it receives a message, checks it against a number of requirements and confirms receipt. Within SBR, Digipoort is the channel for all reports to the government, such as annual accounts to the KVK and returns to the Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax Administration). Credit reports to banks run through another channel, the Bancaire Infrastructurele Voorziening.
A business owner does not work in Digipoort themselves. Bookkeeping or reporting software converts the annual accounts into an XBRL file according to the Dutch Taxonomy and submits it as a message. Anyone without software uses the KVK's Zelf Deponeren portal for the annual accounts. Logius has renewed Digipoort: since 1 November 2025 users can switch over, and from 1 December 2026 the Belastingdienst no longer accepts messages via the old environment.
Example
An accounting firm files on 12 June 2026 the 2025 annual accounts of a micro BV with a balance sheet total of € 150.000. The software creates the XBRL file and submits it to Digipoort. It then shows a status per message. For this client the chain reports that the message has been delivered and processed by the KVK; the balance sheet can be requested from the Business Register. For a second client a rejection comes back, because the file does not pass validation. That message was not forwarded. The firm corrects the error and submits it again; the first attempt does not count as filing.
In the annual accounts
Technical route for reporting; not an annual accounts item.
Difference from SBR
SBR is the standard: the agreements on data (the Dutch Taxonomy), on language (XBRL) and on process. Digipoort is the facility over which messages travel to the government. So you file with SBR via Digipoort. The KVK's Zelf Deponeren portal is a third route: there you enter the figures yourself, without your own software.
Common mistakes
- Equating creating a file with delivering it
- Ignoring a rejection message
What should you watch for?
- Ask your software supplier whether it is connected to the new Digipoort. After 1 December 2026, messages for the Belastingdienst via the old environment no longer arrive.
- After each submission, check the status in the software and keep the confirmation with the file.
- Micro, small and medium-sized entities must file in XBRL; for large entities the obligation of electronic filing applies from financial year 2025, in XBRL or iXBRL. See SBR and XBRL when filing.

Frequently asked questions
Can a business owner log in to Digipoort themselves?
No. Digipoort is a link between systems, not a website with a login. You use software that is connected to it, an intermediary, or, for the annual accounts, the KVK's Zelf Deponeren portal.
Is an annual accounts filing complete as soon as it has been sent to Digipoort?
No. Sending is the first step. The message is checked and delivered to the KVK; only after processing there are the annual accounts visible in the Business Register. A rejected message does not count as filing.
