What do eHerkenning, PKIoverheid and SBR software cost for filing?
Filing itself is free. What you pay for are the means to log in or to submit. Below, each amount comes with its source and date, and what we could not confirm.
The short answer
The KVK (Dutch Chamber of Commerce) charges nothing for filing. According to KPN (April 2025), eHerkenning costs from € 20 per year for level 2+ and from € 45 for level 3; the KVK gives € 25 to € 55 as an indication (May 2026). An authorisation with email and password is free. For PKIoverheid and SBR software we found no confirmed amount.

| Authorisation with email and password | € 0 | KVK, filing yourself, read on 27 October 2026 | For medium-sized and large the only portal route |
| eHerkenning level 2+ | From € 20 per year | KPN, heading "Costs eHerkenning 2025", 25 April 2025 | Price depends on term and level; no VAT statement seen |
| eHerkenning level 3 | From € 45 per year | KPN, 25 April 2025 | For the portal the KVK asks for at least level 2 |
| Indication eHerkenning in general | € 25 to € 55 per year | KVK, updated 22 May 2026 | Buying three or five years is cheaper per year |

The Dutch Tax Administration compensation of € 24,20 per year (incl. VAT) that the KVK mentions applies to the special eHerkenning means for the Dutch Tax Administration at level 3, not to filing. Do not count on it here.
Which combination suits you?
- Micro or small, filing yourself. Portal, logging in with eHerkenning level 2 or higher, or with email and password plus authorisation. The cheapest path is email and password: € 0. According to the KVK, an eHerkenning means costs about € 25 to € 55 per year.
- Medium-sized. The portal works with email and password plus authorisation, or with an accountant who submits with SBR software; then the firm's certificate applies.
- Large. An XBRL file cannot go via the portal and goes with SBR software; the KVK mentions the PKIoverheid certificate for that. An iXBRL package can go via the portal. The accountant usually submits.
Costs at an accountant or bookkeeper are not KVK costs; they are in their quote. See what do annual accounts cost for the price of preparing them.
Case: the total cost of one filing
Jansen Verhuur BV (fictitious, micro: balance sheet total ≤ € 450.000, net turnover ≤ € 900.000, < 10 employees, balance sheet total € 310.000) files itself. Two variants, with only the confirmed amounts and one fictitious item.
| Item | Variant A: email and password | Variant B: eHerkenning 2+ |
|---|---|---|
| KVK filing | € 0 | € 0 |
| Login means | € 0 (authorisation) | € 25 (lowest amount of the KVK indication, May 2026) |
| Preparation (fictitious example: software for this year) | € 180 | € 180 |
| Total (excl. VAT effects) | € 180 | € 205 |
The difference is small and mainly practical: with eHerkenning you log in without a separate authorisation. The amount for preparation is an example and not a provider's rate.
How it works at Jaarrekening.io
The first annual accounts in your account are free, for every size class. After that you pay for each set of annual accounts, once per financial year: micro € 250, small € 500, medium-sized € 2.000 or large € 5.000, excl. VAT. That includes preparation and the publication version. The app submits nothing, so the costs of eHerkenning, a certificate or SBR software are not added by us: you pay those to the supplier of the means you choose.

Frequently asked questions
What does filing annual accounts with the KVK cost?
Nothing. The KVK states that filing is free, also via SBR. You pay for the software package, the login method or certificate and any help from an accountant.
What does eHerkenning cost for filing?
According to KPN (2025 costs, page of 25 April 2025) from € 20 per year for level 2+ and from € 45 for level 3. The KVK gives € 25 to € 55 per year as an indication, and says a longer term is cheaper per year. For the portal the KVK asks for at least level 2.
Is an authorisation for Zelf Deponeren free?
With email and password: yes. An authorisation via eHerkenning you arrange with the supplier of your eHerkenning means and it often costs something; the KVK gives no amount.
What does a PKIoverheid certificate cost?
We found no confirmed amount there: the KVK only states that you pay for the certificate. Ask for a quote from an accredited supplier or your software supplier. An accountant who submits with SBR software has that certificate themselves.
Do I get compensation for eHerkenning?
The compensation of € 24,20 per year (incl. VAT) that the KVK mentions is for the eHerkenning means for the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) at level 3. It does not apply to filing annual accounts.
