Preparing Dutch annual accounts from Reeleezee (Exact Reeleezee)

Reeleezee is now called Exact Reeleezee and targets self-employed people (zzp'ers) and small businesses. A BV still needs annual accounts and a filing after the export.

✓ First annual accounts free ✓ Micro to large entities ✓ Dutch GAAP: Title 9, Book 2 DCC ✓ Primary database in the EU

The short answer

Reeleezee is part of Exact and is called Exact Reeleezee. The package is built for entrepreneurs without bookkeeping knowledge; Exact does not mention a module for annual accounts under Title 9 Book 2 DCC on the product page. The guide on exporting is in the Reeleezee knowledge base, in the article ‘Downloading and exporting Reeleezee data’. Check the export and then prepare the annual accounts.

What Exact Reeleezee itself offers for the annual accounts

Exact positions Reeleezee as bookkeeping for people who are not bookkeepers: ‘You are an entrepreneur; not a bookkeeper’ and ‘Bookkeeping knowledge is not needed’. The packages are called Slim Boekhouden Start, Slim Boekhouden and Slim Boekhouden Plus, with two invoicing packages alongside. As functions Exact names bookkeeping and invoicing, the bank link, the VAT return and financial insight.

Annual accounts under Title 9 Book 2 DCC, notes or filing with the KVK are not in that list. But every bookkeeping package includes ‘Working with an accountant’, and for firms there is a Firm licence for Reeleezee Accounting. The idea is thus that your accountant continues with your figures.

Exporting from Reeleezee: what we could and could not verify

Reeleezee has its own knowledge base at support.reeleezee.nl. It has an article titled ‘Downloading and exporting Reeleezee data’ and an article ‘Comparative figures’. We could not check the content of those articles on 6 October 2026, because the knowledge base only loads in a browser. We therefore give no menu path: that would be guessing. Open the article yourself, or ask Reeleezee support for the route in your package.

What the export must contain is independent of the screens. Look for a report that meets these requirements:

ComponentWhat you needWhy
AccountsOne line per ledger account with number and descriptionSubtotals are counted twice on import
BalancesOpening balance and closing balance, in debit and credit or as one balanceThe opening balance must tie in with the previous year
PeriodThe whole financial year, after the last correctionAn interim position gives annual accounts you have to redo
Prior yearThe same export for the preceding financial yearThe annual accounts show comparative figures art. 2:363(5) DCC

If your package offers an audit file, that is an alternative. Exact writes about its own annual accounts product that an audit file is supported ‘by most accounting packages in the Netherlands’. The trial balance guide helps you assess the export, whatever form it takes.

RGS in Reeleezee

Whether and how Reeleezee links RGS codes to accounts and includes them in an export, we could not verify in Exact's documentation. In planning, assume that you assign the accounts to the statutory line items yourself, or check a proposal for it. For a small administration with a few dozen accounts that is manageable work; RGS mapping describes the approach.

Checks before exporting from Reeleezee

  • Bank. The balance in the bookkeeping at the balance sheet date equals the bank statement.
  • VAT. The VAT accounts only show the amount of the last return.
  • Private and business. A BV has no private account; withdrawals go via the current account with the director or his salary or dividend.
  • Journal. Depreciation, accrued expenses and corporate income tax have been posted.

Worked example: does the opening balance tie in?

The adopted 2024 annual accounts of a BV close with a balance sheet total of € 97.150. The export for 2025 begins with € 96.400. The difference of € 750 is not rounding. Investigate the cause and the posting date, for example a credit note that was posted after adoption with a date in December 2024. Do not simply move such an entry to 2025: it belongs in the year it relates to. If the 2024 annual accounts were incorrect on this point, assess the correction of the error, the adjustment of the comparative figures and whether a corrected filing is needed. If an adopted set of annual accounts falls seriously short, the board notifies the shareholders and files a notice art. 2:362(6) DCC.

According to Exact, Slim Boekhouden Start is limited to 10 invoices and 10 entries per month. Assess whether that package fits the size of your BV before you base the annual work on it.

From Reeleezee export to annual accounts

What has to happen after the export differs per legal form.

Legal formAnnual accounts under Title 9 Book 2 DCCNext step
Self-employed (zzp'er), sole proprietorship or vofNot applicableProfit and balance sheet go into the income tax return
BV, micro or smallYes; file within eight days after adoption art. 2:394(1) DCCPrepare and file yourself, or have the firm compile
BV, medium-sized or largeYes, with audit by an accountant art. 2:393(1) DCCDiscuss with your accountant which documents are needed besides the export

Reeleezee and Jaarrekening.io

Jaarrekening.io reads a trial balance in Excel or CSV and an XAF audit file in version 3.1 or 3.2. It makes no difference to the app which package the file comes from, as long as the number, description and balance per account are recognisable and debit and credit are equal. The mapping to the annual accounts line items comes as an AI proposal, unless an audit file contains RGS codes. A direct link with Reeleezee is in preparation and not yet released; see linking to your accounting package.

When an accountant with a Firm licence is the better route

Reeleezee is set up for working with an accountant. If your firm has a Firm licence, it can look along in your administration and make the annual documents itself. That is the shortest way if you outsource the annual accounts anyway. Preparing them yourself pays off for a simple BV, such as a holding with a participation and a current account. If you are looking for one environment for bookkeeping and annual accounts for such a BV, look at the bookkeeping of Jaarrekening.io.

Frequently asked questions

Is Reeleezee the same as Exact Online?

No. Exact sells Exact Reeleezee as a separate product alongside Exact Online, with its own packages, its own login and its own knowledge base. Anyone who visits reeleezee.nl ends up on the product page at Exact.

Where is the guide on exporting from Reeleezee?

In the knowledge base at support.reeleezee.nl, among others in the article ‘Downloading and exporting Reeleezee data’. We could not verify the content and therefore give no menu path.

Can my accountant look along in Reeleezee?

Exact names ‘Working with an accountant’ as a function of the Slim Boekhouden packages. For firms there is a Firm licence for Reeleezee Accounting, with logins per employee.

As a self-employed person (zzp'er) with Reeleezee, do I have to file annual accounts?

No. The filing obligation applies to legal entities such as the BV. As a zzp'er you use the profit and the balance sheet for your income tax return.

My comparative figures do not match last year. What do I do?

Take last year's adopted annual accounts as the starting point, not the current position in the package. For each difference, look up the entry and its date. If an entry was posted in the old year after adoption, assess whether the adopted figures were incorrect or whether the entry sits in the wrong year; do not silently adjust the figures.
