Preparing Dutch annual accounts from MUIS Software (iMUIS)

MUIS Software no longer exists as a brand. Support for iMUIS and iMUIS Online stopped on 31 March 2026; the successors are called KING Finance and KING Accountancy.

✓ First annual accounts free ✓ Micro to large entities ✓ Dutch GAAP: Title 9, Book 2 DCC ✓ Primary database in the EU

The short answer

iMUIS and iMUIS Online have no longer been supported since 31 March 2026; in the cloud, access has lapsed. Supplier Bjorn Lunden refers to KING Finance and KING Accountancy, which are built on the database of iMUIS Online. For the 2025 annual accounts you work with the migrated administration, or with the audit file you exported before that date.

What happened to iMUIS

Anyone who goes to muis.nl now ends up at Bjorn Lunden, the supplier behind the KING products. The support site states the decision: ‘Support for iMUIS and iMUIS Online stops on 31 March 2026.’ The supplier shifts its attention to KING Finance for entrepreneurs and KING Accountancy for firms.

DateWhat Bjorn Lunden announces
2 June 2025iMUIS, iMUIS Online and the modules can no longer be bought by new customers
30 September 2025Expanding or registering new customers via the software is no longer possible
31 March 2026End of support; in the cloud environment access to the software lapses completely
After 31 March 2026On-premise, iMUIS keeps working technically, without updates, support or service

What the successor to iMUIS offers for the annual accounts

KING Finance and KING Accountancy are accounting packages. We did not find a module on Bjorn Lunden's pages that prepares or files annual accounts under Title 9 Book 2 DCC. KING Accountancy mentions links with annual accounts software and reporting tools. The annual accounts are therefore, as before with iMUIS, produced at your firm or in separate software.

According to Bjorn Lunden both packages are ‘built on the database of iMUIS Online’ and the way of working and the functions are ‘virtually the same’. An administration moves across one to one, ‘including all historical years’.

Your 2025 figures: three situations

Your situation on 6 October 2026Where are the figures? What you do
Switched from iMUIS Online to KING Finance or KING AccountancyIn the new package, with the old financial years includedExport the 2025 report to Excel; if needed ask for the menu path via support.kingsoftware.nl
Used iMUIS Online and did not switchOnly in what you exported before 31 March 2026Use the 2025 audit file; if it is missing, contact Bjorn Lunden
iMUIS on-premise on your own serverStill in the software itselfExport now and secure the export; no more updates are coming

For KING Finance, Bjorn Lunden writes that reports and data are ‘easy to export’ to Excel and PDF. We did not find a public article with the exact menu path to the trial balance or the audit file; menus in the known articles follow the pattern menu – Financial – Ledger. Go by the content of the file and go through the checks on the trial balance.

RGS in iMUIS and KING

Whether your old iMUIS administration had RGS codes can no longer be looked up with the supplier. You can see it in the audit file itself: open the file in a text editor and look at a ledger account for a code starting with B or W. For KING Accountancy, Bjorn Lunden mentions support for the RGS bridge schedule. Without codes you link the accounts to the statutory line items as described in RGS mapping.

Checks on an audit file from iMUIS

  • Whole financial year? Check the start and end date in the header of the file: 1 January to 31 December 2025.
  • Date of export. Anything your bookkeeper posted after that is not in it.
  • Opening balance. The opening positions must equal the closing balance sheet in the adopted 2024 annual accounts.
  • Retention. The records must be kept for seven years art. 2:10(3) DCC. Transferring them to another data carrier is allowed, provided the data remain correct and complete art. 2:10(4) DCC.

Worked example: corrections after the last export

A BV exported the 2025 audit file on 20 March 2026. The profit in that file is € 58.300. In April the bookkeeper proposes two more items: € 6.900 depreciation and € 9.800 corporate income tax. These can no longer be posted in iMUIS Online. The annual accounts must nevertheless come to € 41.600. So record the two corrections as separate entries as at 31 December 2025, in the new package or in the annual accounts file, with an explanation of why they are not in the audit file.

If you did switch, it is simpler: in KING Finance the closing balance sheet automatically becomes the opening balance of the new year, and corrections in the old year carry along until you really close the year.

From iMUIS figures to annual accounts: mind the deadline

The stop of iMUIS changes nothing about the statutory deadline. If your financial year equals the calendar year, the 2025 annual accounts must be filed no later than 31 December 2026 art. 2:394(3) DCC. Micro and small entities file with SBR software or in the KVK portal Zelf Deponeren; for medium-sized and large entities the audit by an accountant is added art. 2:393(1) DCC.

iMUIS files and Jaarrekening.io

For the annual accounts, Jaarrekening.io reads an XAF audit file in version 3.1 or 3.2, or a trial balance in Excel or CSV. The app checks the period of the file against the financial year and warns if it finds no opening balance. If after iMUIS you are also looking for a new accounting package: the bookkeeping module has a Switch function that reads an audit file XAF 3.2 or 4.0 and prepares the entries as a draft; posting only happens after you have confirmed the check. Direct links with other packages are in preparation and not yet released; see linking to your accounting package.

When your firm can better compile the 2025 annual accounts

If you had a firm keep your administration and that firm migrated it to KING Accountancy, the old years are there too and the firm can simply compile the 2025 annual accounts. If you only have an audit file and closing entries are missing, help from a bookkeeper is wise: someone must assess which corrections are still needed and substantiate them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still access my administration in iMUIS Online?

According to Bjorn Lunden, iMUIS Online is no longer available from 31 March 2026, ‘including access to your data’. The advice was to switch or export an audit file before that date. If you have not done that, contact the supplier.

Does iMUIS still work on my own server?

Yes, technically. Bjorn Lunden writes that the on-premise software keeps functioning, but that after 31 March 2026 there are no more updates, support or service. Secure your data and plan the switch.

I only have an audit file for 2025. Is that enough for the annual accounts?

As a source for the figures yes, provided the file covers the whole financial year, contains the opening balance and was made after the last correction. The comparative figures, the notes and any later corrections still have to be added.

How long must I keep the old iMUIS data?

Seven years, under art. 2:10(3) DCC. Keep the audit files per financial year and check that you can open them; a file nobody can read any more does not comply.
